Summer's over, let the new TV season begin!

Thank goodness the summer re-runs are ending and the new fall season shows are in full swing! There are lots of old favorites returning and plenty of new shows to fill your appetite. I'm excited about a new show on the CW called “Vampire Diaries” on Thursday nights. It's very similar to Twilight - and some have even accused it of ripping-off the motion picture hit film. Most people don't realize that this show is based off of a book series that was written over ten years ago, so who's ripping off whom? I can't wait to see how the romance unfolds between Stefan (the “good vampire”) and Elena. I'm hoping it keeps me on the edge of my seat...

Other than Vampire Diaries and America's Next Top Model, I'm pretty partial to shows on the ABC network. Grey's Anatomy returns on Thursday nights. Last season was a jaw-dropping cliff hanger – Will George and/or Izzie return? Word on the street is that George will not be returning and Izzie will be on a 5-episode hiatus, but later returning. Last season the show started getting a little too weird for me, so we'll see how this season goes. This season will make or break Grey's. With ratings perpetually heading in a downward trend, Grey's needs to step it up or call it quits!

After Grey's we'll get another season of “Private Practice” starting in October. I'm a big fan of the character, Addison Montgomery. She's smart, sexy, and successful. We'll see if the budding romance between Addison and her patient's husband comes to fruition. Naomi is leaving the practice – Sam is devastated. Violet's baby is being cut out of her by her crazy-ass patient. I'm not sure if she'll survive...but knowing ABC, she probably will. Overall, we're in for some fresh drama.

Wisteria Lane is positioned to bring fans intriguing new episodes. In Season 5, Edie was killed off, which was somewhat of a disappointment for fans. However, I'm sure we'll have a new guest cast member to keep things interesting. Mike and Susan shared a passionate kiss at the end of last season. He's shown marrying someone, but we don't know who the bride is... Susan or Katherine? My guess is Katherine. Bree is starting an affair with Karl, after her husband Orsen turns into the neighborhood kleptomaniac. Nothing particularly interesting going on with Gaby and Carlos except a teenage niece moving in. Lynnette finds out she's pregnant, again. I think we're in store for another successful season and I look forward to the comedic drama fest every Sunday night.

Lastly, I'm excited for the new season of “Castle”. This new show premiered last spring and had a successful ten-episode run. It's a fun, smart, comedy/mystery, centered around solving crimes and the building sexual tension between Rick Castle, murder mystery novelist, and Detective Kate Beckett.

Overall, I think there are some great episodes coming up this season. Now all I need to do is convince Jeremy we need a DVR so I don't miss any of them!
